I had the good fortune of being at the Ashram at the same time that Krishna Darshan, a long-time and highly respected Vedic Astrologer was here. He's from Uruguay and is here teaching the Teacher Training Course.
It was a bit of a challenge to access my birth time, but luckily the information arrived in time to have a reading face to face with him. Birth time is extremely important and gives a more detailed picture for the reading. There were many details and more than an hour's worth of insight from a Vedic Astrological perspective. One revelation that I found particularly freeing is that Saturn is my ruling planet in the 9th House (House of Universal Knowledge and Sense of Meaning). Saturn represents discipline, devotion to higher truths, spirituality and philosophy. At the same time, Venus is equally strong in my 9th House. Venus represents creativity, beauty, art, intelligence, passion. I've known I have these various traits. Yet, it has always seemed to me a struggle and conflicting. As though, one or the other had to be the right path. I feel very comfortable in disciplined environments, and yet there is the fun and free-spirited side of me that wants to be a part of my life too. I thought of it as my 'wild side', but was assured in the reading, that even if it felt 'wild' for me, my strong Saturn would never let me stray too far off a meaningful and service oriented path. Krishna Darshan said I was very fortunate because these two equally powerful planets would naturally keep my life in balance, as long as I paid attention to the signals. He further said it wasn't about one or the other being the right path for me, but that the balance of these two planets was a blessing. Saturn would assure abundance in my life and successful pursuit of whatever I chose to do. Venus would bring me joy and comfort and love. Both are important for me. My reading showed that living my dharma (or unique purpose) is all about teaching, well being, healing, spirituality and service. He even showed me the time period that I became interested in coming to the Ashram, and it was absolutely right. The Vedic Astrology is a fascinating science that I want to learn more about. As I was further told, learning is a very strong pull for me, and astrology, yoga, Ayurveda, food and herbs, counseling - all are ideal areas for me to continue to study and then teach. Teaching satisfies my interest and desire to serve and help others. It seems I'm on the right path, and it's an exciting and fulfilling path to be on. Last tidbit of information - starting at age 69-85, I will be in Jupiter phase and everything will be booming for me. It is supposed to be an amazing time of life for me. Wisdom and compassion will strongly guide my teaching at that time. Who'd figure I'd be anxious and excited about my 70's and 80's - I feel blessed beyond words. If you are interested in Vedic Astrology, Krishna Darshan does online and Skype readings too. He has a website 9graha.com, and he can be reached at jyotish@9gaha.com.
