Mauna is the sanskrit word for Silence. At the ashram, it is not uncommon for yogis to wear signs with 'mauna' written to indicate a practice of silence. We all know what it means, and honor the unstated request. It is said that at least an hour or two each day is well spent in silence - no speech, no TV, no radio, no internet - it is a practice that provides space for reflection and pausing and observation. Perhaps, you may want to try it out?
